Good Times!

I’d Appreciate Golden Oldies Recommendations. If You’re Willing.

I’ve been downloading many an album in preparation for my pending 4-5 hour long drive to New Brunswick. The new additions as of today, have included: Paper Trail, Universal Mind Control, Bake Sale, and †. Thus far, the Justice download has been the most played. Upon first listen, Common doesn’t seem to have the same hold on me as he used to. He’s still as attractive as ever, voice included. But it’s just, it’s just so SOON.

But what I’d like are some old songs, as well. My mind has wandered to: The Kinks, The Animals, Jefferson Starship, and also… Bob and Doug Mackenzie. What I’d REALLY like though, is a group I’ve not heard of, with an album that’ll make my trip incredible. Ehhhhhh, I’ll have to check with my dad in the morning. I remember driving with him a few years ago with my Muse CD playing, and he said they reminded him of another group from when he was younger.

Well, I’d established that both me and Nicole would be donning our Ryu headbands when celebrating my birthday, but talking to her today, I was inspired. We’re going out for a Valentine’s Day dinner with her boyfriend, Owen. Thinking it’d be awkward to make reservations for three on such a day, she suggested that their roommates Seb and Corey join us as well. So, I’ve got it in my mind that the three of us, Seb, Corey and I, are in an open relationship. With this bit of information, I said to Nicole “Wouldn’t it be awesome, if my two dates wore the headbands to symbolize their fight for my affection.” She just laughed, stating that it probably wouldn’t happen. I pointed out that they’re indeed red! QUITE appropriate for feuding valentines to wear. Needless to say, I’m excited.

I’m easy to please, but Nicole said she’d have something ready for us to eat when I arrived. First to come to mind, shrimp ring, still semi-frozen, kethup and bbq sauce for dipping. Well, they don’t have shrimp rings, but they do have uncooked shrimp and scallops, so she said she’d make a stir-fry. This is after I asked if she had rice, ketchup, and brown sugar. One of my favourite, favourite things to eat when combined and heated. Well, she was fairly adament that I eat a proper meal. So, we compromised, and while I have my scallops and rice with ketchup and sugar, her and Owen will have theirs with peanut satay. Doesn’t bother me none! I just gotta be me. Ya know?

I’ve also prepared an outfit in my style (plain, and completely, upsettingly casual) for Nicole to wear when we go out after dinner that evening. It will include my v-neck, and skirt. Of course, she’d wear it with boots of her own. It IS winter, after all. I’ve been lucky with my thrift finds lately, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that my “new to me ” blazer will be dry cleaned with the shoulder pads removed in time for the trip. I have a dress that I’d absolutely love to wear it with. I think they’d end up being near the same length. Which is what I desire.  I never have luck with finding relevant used clothing, and so the excitement is palpable! Hopefully the abundance of exclamation marks are making you guys feel it, too!

Wee update: I’m listening trough Nas’ Untitled, and it makes me anxious. I don’t think I’ll be driving to this one.

Swords are Stronger than Words, Conan? What if They’re “S” Words?

Ehhhhhhhhhhhh! Yeeeeeah!

Today was a wonderful one at work. And in general, I suppose. At work I was able to steal two Street Fighter headbands, one for me, and one for Nicole. We will wear them when we go out for my belated birthday celebration. What else will I be wearing? Oh, I don’t know, the most INCREDIBLE DEL FORTE JEANS, in my closet.

A guy came in looking for Beyond Good & Evil, as well. After searching the system for XBOX and Gamecube versions with no luck, I called our other store, and even two in the city. Again, no luck. This game, is in my top 5. It makes me insanely giddy that this guy has heard good things and is curious. After discussing Mirrors Edge, Left 4 Dead, and Fallout with ‘im, it was clear he had taste in games and would appreciate BG&E. SO, the only thing to do really, is to loan him my copy. God, it’s pristine. I only have 3 original XBOX games shelved with my 360 ones: BG&E, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and Dead of Alive 3. I value them. I truly can’t wait to discuss the game with him, though. It’ll be worth it just to be able to talk about it with someone again. Also of note, he knew of Heavy Rain and Alan Wake. Cool guy.

I managed to pop into the grocery store to buy Nutella and bread, as planned, for Ricky and I. For a belated celebration. It was a delicious break.

I’m not sure how people felt about me and my Ryu headband. I was wearing it with my sweet Good Will blazer, so I was pretty tidy looking. Still, there were some looks. I often wish I worked at a hole in the wall privately owned game shop, rather than our shop in the mall. Where mothers wander. And wonder. About the girl wearing a red band of material tied around her forehead.

I don’t think that’s as good a title as Niko’s “Being Creepy on Purpose,” but I remain proud! Well, I’ll say this: If I could afford benefit cosmetics, gosh would I ever. Buy them, that is. Because they’d be within my budget range. I just received their benetint lip/cheek stain, and they were kind enough to include two samples of product, as well as a full sized eye brightening mascara. All wrapped within the most beautiful tissue paper I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen a lot of tissue paper, as I don’t so much wrap gifts, as fold them in tissue paper and place them in a holiday themed bag. Or a paper bag. It’s usually a paper bag. Sometime with artwork on it. “Artwork.” (Touche, airquotes.)

I’m incredibly superficial when it comes to packaging. This time around it cost me 28 dollars. It’s certainly been worse in the past. It’s partially due to this obsession that I’ve not invested much time into attaining, and really involving myself with photoshop. I’m a perfectionist, and I imagine it’d drive me quite insane. The spacing of words, spaces between objects, things off centre, it wouldn’t be a cool time.

I’ve two books waiting for me in Box of Delights in Wolfville, these are not as one would presume, erotica. But rather, David Sedaris’, “Dress your Family in Corduroy and Denim,” and “Smartbomb.” Authors of which are unbeknownst to me off the top of my head. My car is covered in snowdrifts, and I’ve nowhere to go but there (the bookstore), so I’m fairly certain the effort won’t be made to clear out my car today. No. No, I’m pretty sure I’m just going to stay in bed reading the FREE benefit catalog that came with my order. Probably some napping.
